TCI Network runs different activities and initiatives with the purpose of encouraging economic development and competitiveness.
TCI Network’s activities include:
The regional and local initiatives serve the needs and interests of cluster practioners and regional agencies throughout the world.
TCI Working Groups are structured around one specific theme, seeking to enter into more detail by sharing expertise. The members of the groups gather either in workshops during the year or in specific meetings held in the framework of TCI conferences.
TCI Network is organising Global Webinars with cluster experts addressing important topics about cluster-based economic development, cluster organisations sustainability, leadership challenges etc.
TCI member SPRI - Basque Business Development Agency is leading the Interreg Europe CLUSTERS3 project “Leveraging Cluster Policies for successful implementation of RIS3” , which runs from 1 April 2016 until 31 March 2020.
This project was approved along with other 64, among the 261 projects submitted in the first call for Interreg Europe 2016. The the European Union (Interreg Europe/ ERDF) supports the project with 1.832.637 Euros.
The consortium is formed by 9 partners from 7 European regions:
The CLUSTERS3 project aims at improving the regional policy instruments of the participating regions committed to cluster based economic development.
And more specifically, the performance of cluster organizations in the development of global value chains and in leveraging the regional smart specialization strategies (RIS3) implementation. In order to achieve these goals, the project partners carry out a set of activities divided into two phases:
Phase 1: Interregional learning
The knowledge and experiences sharing process engages the different partners in joint thematic workshops and site visits, where each regional authority partner explains and discusses their own practices and experiences. Other activities connected with this process are: peer review activities, identification and evaluation of best practices, transfer of best practices through B2B sessions, networking events and surveys, among others.
Phase 2: Implementation
In this phase, each regional authority partner plans, develops and implements suitable interventions at regional level to improve the policy instruments addressed. This intervention will be based on all the learned lessons in the previous phase.
As advisory partner, TCI provides experiences and knowledge to the project based on its own expertise developed over the past years and connects the project itself with the wider community of practitioners in Europe and worldwide . TCI's role includes identifying and selecting external experts in the field of cluster policy and smart specialization to provide the specific expertise required in the different parts of the project, such as the peer reviews.
